32 Isaiah

Ok back again..

When there are no prophets, there is no divine direction, if we didn’t have that people would walk in darkness, never knowing how to be. Prophets are given the ability to interpret signs and dreams ok. Now I’m about to get into telling you some stuff from the bible about the prophets.. they are amazing, and they are like God’s representatives. Its sad because these men are men that are trying to help mankind… people just do not want to hear it. The different prophets to me are awesome, they weren’t always popular, but they were always right. They all pretty much had the same job, but they had a wide variety of experiences and responses. They were predicting our future and what was to come. Think about it like this.. someone one hundred years ago says or writes down in a letter addressed to you, Hey.. a guy with a red hat and a book in his hand is going to come to CB and visit you and he will have one tooth missing and he is going to tell you that it is going to rain for 20 days.. and…….. waaalaaaa… you are sitting there one day and a guy with a red hat, book in his hand, one tooth shows up and tells you its gonna rain for 20 days………. AND IT DOES.. that is what is happening in the bible with these prophets.. they are telling people.. change your life.. if this is what is going to happen.. and it happens…….. they predict the future.. of course they are getting all this from God.. they predicted so many things that came true.. If it didnt come true then they were false prophets. Now when you read the bible you will come across some things and say.. hmmm that didn’t happen yet… then you will know that, that is something that will come.. like when they predict Jesus is coming back.. well guess what.. HE IS.. cuz there are over 1800 predictions on what is going to happen in the bible, and so far about 1500 of them have been fulfilled.. So think about it.. all these things that someone said were going to happened, happened.. I think that is truly amazing.. so here I will start with Isaiah

Isaiah preached to the people for like 58 years.. same ol thing.. come on people.. ya gotta change and give up your old life and get with the program!!.. of course people like living their lives the way they want to.. so guess what.. they don’t change.. but that is not a good decision, if you want to live to eternity.. So some of the things Isaiah preached about were God’s righteousness, he warned people about judgment for sin, he told people about God’s forgiveness and love for us. He loved to tell people about the glory that awaits those who remain faithful to God, and he really pounded to them that God has power and glory.. so listen up people….. So many of Isaiah’s predictions came true. He predicted the coming of the Messiah.. Like even where Jesus would be born and that he would be born to a Virgin.. like 400 years before it even happened.. He also went on to tell us that despite the judgments against us.. God never stopped caring for his people. His people whom he loved will be saved through the Messiah.. who will come and open the eyes that are blind, free captives in prison, and release from the dungeons those who sit in darkness. Isaiah says that he will not only be for the people of Isreal, but for everyone.. every single one of us.

More than any other book in the Old Testament, Isaiah focuses on the salvation that will come through the Messiah. The Messiah will one day rule in justice and righteousness. The reign of the Messiah will bring peace and safety to Israel. Through the Messiah, Israel will be a light to all the nations. The Messiah’s kingdom on earth is the goal towards which all of the Book of Isaiah points. It is during the reign of the Messiah that God’s righteousness will be fully revealed to the world.

The Book of Isaiah also presents the Messiah as one who will suffer. Isaiah chapter 53 vividly describes the Messiah suffering for sin. It is through His wounds that healing is achieved. It is through His suffering that our sins are taken away. This is solved in the Person of Jesus Christ. In His first advent, Jesus was the suffering servant of Isaiah chapter 53. In His second advent, Jesus will be the conquering and ruling King! Read that chapter someday would ya!

Closely related to Isaiah's teaching concerning the "surviving remnant" that would be the hope of Judah were his predictions with reference to the coming of a Messiah, or "anointed one," who will someday occupy the throne in Jerusalem and rule the nation with justice and righteousness. He will be a far better king than any of those who have preceded him. Under his leadership, the poor and the oppressed will find a champion, for he will judge their cases with a discerning mind and will not be unduly influenced by hearsay or mere outward appearances. His kingdom will be the fulfillment and realization of the divine purpose in the world.

The Book of Isaiah presents our Savior to us in undeniable detail. He is the only way to heaven, the only means of obtaining the grace of God, the only Way, the only Truth, and the only Life . Knowing the price Christ paid for us, how can we neglect or reject “so great a salvation”? . We have only a few, short years on earth to come to Christ and embrace the salvation only He offers. There is no second chance after death, and eternity in hell is a very long time.

Do you know people who claim to be believers in Christ who are two-faced, who are hypocrites, like a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc? That is perhaps the best summary of how Isaiah viewed the nation of Israel. Israel had an appearance of righteousness, but it was a facade - an outward appearance which is deliberately false and gives you a wrong impression about someone or something.. In the Book of Isaiah, the Prophet Isaiah challenges Israel to obey God with all of their heart, not just on the outside. Isaiah’s desire was that those who heard and read his words would be convicted to turn from wickedness and turn to God for forgiveness and healing. Isaiah is very important in the bible.. read it very carefully and you will see his predictions that have come true. Prophesy that has come true. Isaiah is one we should all pay close attention to. He predicts so much of what is coming.. its amazing. here are a few really key things he said. Read them and think or ponder on the ones I have written here for you.. just think on each one and what it says.. it is pretty amazing.. Also Jesus quoted Isaiah 8 times....... so listen to what he has to say. In brief Isaiah preached about God's righteousness, he warned about judgment for sin and proclaimed God's love and forgiveness. He prophesized the glory that awaits those who remain faithful to God, and he emphasized God's tremendous power, majesty, glory and sovereignty which means having supreme power or authority - that is God!.

Isaiah said.. “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’”

“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

“How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain.”

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”

“The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent's food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, says the LORD.”

The Book of Isaiah reveals God’s judgment and salvation. God is “holy, holy, holy” , and therefore He cannot allow sin to go unpunished . Isaiah portrays God’s oncoming judgment as a “consuming fire”.

Ok that is enough .. that is the first of the prophets.. Isaiah.. and there are more to come
